Twin sisters Amber and Jennie have just earned a scholarship at a  boarding school. Accomadating themselves to a new school they make new friends fast. One girl named Millie by far is the most welcoming to the sisters. The sisters though encounter problems though from the school's headmistress, Mrs. Skeener, who in general dislikes twin sisters for some unknown reason. Jeanie wants to find out why she feels this way. Jeanie becomes more suspicious about the school and she uncovers that the school has some definite underlying hidden past. A past where girls mysteriously vanish without a trace.

The Dreaming's mystery is huge in this first volume. Many things while reading are still very open for discussion. This first volume is more of an introduction to characters of twin sisters Amber and Jeanie. The school too is a vehicle of newfound discovery because its a strange school. Its surrounded by these humongous trees and for miles there are no towns or anything. So for girls at the boarding school to go missing is weird. The suspense for this reason is high. Another thing that's praise-worthy in The Dreaming Vol. 1 is the artwork, Victorian-styled through some pages of the manga which are detailed and beautiful. All in all not a bad manga. Manga lovers that are into some mystery/suspense with a taste for historical-like artwork at times should like this.
Overall: Amazing read!
Genre: Horror, Mystery/Suspense, Paranormal, Manga
